Donna has been married to her husband Jim (the boy next door) since 1979. They have four daughters, two sons-in-law, and four grandchildren. Donna is member of Central Baptist Church, Winchester. In her spare time she enjoys reading, cooking, watching UK basketball, and traveling. What she enjoys the most is spending time with her family, especially her grandbabies.
Throughout her working years Donna has had many different jobs. Home daycare (when her children were little so she could stay home with them), preschool teacher (as they got older), and several different office accounting jobs, she was even a school bus driver for a while. In 2001 Donna studied and became a Real Estate Broker. But since 1986 she has continued to work seasonally as a tax preparer. In 2003 Donna took a full time position in an accounting office and has continued to work as an accountant preparing taxes, payroll, bookkeeping and handling all aspects of accounting work for numerous clients.
In 2009 Donna obtained her Certificate of Enrollment from the Internal Revenue Service. This EA (Enrolled Agent) status gives her Unlimited Representation Rights before the IRS. These credentials allow her to represent her clients on any and all matters including audits, payment/collection issues, and appeals.
Enrolled Agents are licensed by the IRS. Enrolled agents are subject to a suitability check and must pass a three-part Special Enrollment Examination, which is a comprehensive exam that requires them to demonstrate proficiency in federal tax planning, individual and business tax return preparation, and representation. They must complete 72 hours of continuing education every 3 years.
In 2010 Donna went back to college to finish her degree in Accounting. She graduated in December 2012 with a Bachelors’ degree in Accounting.
Each year Donna completes 30 hours of Continuing Professional Education in tax and ethics. In addition to the continuing education she is always reading and studying about tax changes and updates. She is also a member of several tax and accounting groups and is always conferring with colleagues about interpretations of the laws.
Donna strives to do honest and accurate work, to keep her clients educated on the continuous changes and to show them every legal way to minimize their tax liability.
